Sophomore Kymia Bridgett capped off her season earning sixth place in the Triple Jump and securing her NJCAA All-American status as the Aztecs Women's Track & Field team finished in 21st place with a final team score of 10 points. The Pima Community College women’s track & field team closed out the 2026 season on Saturday in the final day of the NJCAA Division I National Championships in Hobbs, NM.

Sophomore Hannah Droeg became a three-time NJCAA All-American as she took third place in the Heptathlon with a total of 4591 points. The Pima Community College women’s track & field team completed the second day of competition at the NJCAA Division I National Championships on Friday at New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, NM.

Freshman Tyra Starkey (Casteel HS) earned NJCAA All-American status after taking eighth place in the Pole Vault with a mark of 3.31 meters (10-feet, 10.25-inches). The Pima Community College women’s track & field team competed in the first day of the NJCAA Division I National Championships on Thursday at New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, NM.

The Pima Community College women’s track & field team claimed its second straight Region I Team Championship on Thursday in the final day at Mesa Community College. It was their third team title in six years.

Freshman Trisha Stine (Red Mountain HS) claimed the Region I championship in the Long Jump with a PR of 5.63 meters (18-feet, 5.75-inches) while freshman Tyra Starkey (Casteel HS) took second in the Pole Vault with a PR of 3.46 meters (11-4.25) as the Aztecs Women's Track & Field team lead in the team standings with a score of 99 points. Mesa Community College is second with 81. The Region I Championships conclude on Thursday at Mesa Community College. Events begin at 5:00 p.m. Photos by Melinda Espinoza.

The Pima Community College women’s track & field team holds a double digit lead in the team standings after the first day of the Region I Championships.

Sophomore Hannah Droeg claimed the Region I Championship in the Heptathlon as she took first place in six of the seven events and finished with a total of 4974 points. The Aztecs secured 25 team points that will carry over into the Region I Championships on Tuesday and Thursday at Mesa Community College. Pima Community College women’s track & field athlete Kymia Bridgett (Dunbar HS, Washington D.C.) added another accolade to her stellar season.

Freshman Andrew Smith (Tanque Verde HS) set an NJCAA national qualifying time in the 1,500 meter race (3:55.69) while fellow freshman Elizabeth Ugwu (Sahuaro HS) improved on her qualifier in the Shot Put (13.52 meters, 44-4.25) and moved to No. 3 on the Pima school all-time list. The Pima Community College men’s and women’s track & field teams competed in their final regular season meet on Saturday at the GCC Outdoor Invitational at Glendale Community College.

The Aztecs Women's Track & Field claimed the ACCAC Conference Team Championship while six athletes won inidividual titles: Kymia Bridgett (Triple Jump), Sofia Cambridge (1,500 meters), Tyra Christean (400-meter hurdles), Hannah Droeg (100-meter hurdles), Cayla Jones (Long Jump) and Elizabeth Ugwu (Shot Put). The Pima Community College women’s track & field team captured the ACCAC Conference Team Championship on Friday at Mesa Community College.

Sophomore Kymia Bridgett became an NJCAA Indoor National Champion in the Triple Jump (12.58 meters, 41-3.25) while sophomore Hannah Droeg became a two-time NJCAA All-American with her runner-up finish in the Pentathlon (3344 pts). Pima Community College women’s track & field athlete Kymia Bridgett earned her second selection as ACCAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week after her performance at the NAU Tune-Up last Friday in Flagstaff.

Sophomore Hannah Droeg (Casteel HS) broke the Pima Indoor school record in the Pentathlon with a total of 3366 points toppling Jackie Trice's record of 3328 set in 20023. She is ranked No. 2 in the nation as the Aztecs Women's Track & Field team closed out the Indoor regular season on Tuesday at the West Campus Aztec Track. The Pima Community College women’s track & field team closed out the 2026 Indoor regular season on Tuesday after the final day of the Pima Indoor Multi’s Meet.

Sophomore Ketch Sulpizio (Gila Ridge HS) tied the Pima Indoor school record in the Pole Vault with a mark of 4.75 meters (15-feet, 7-inches) while freshman Tya Starkey (Casteel HS) entered the Top 5 list Pima Indoor School history and set her second improved mark in the Pole Vault with a mark of 3.25 meters (10-8).
