Women's Track & Field claims ACCAC Conference Team Championships; six Aztecs win individual crowns

The Pima Community College women's track & field team captured the ACCAC Conference Team Championship on Friday at Mesa Community College.
- The Aztecs took home the team championship after beating Central Arizona College (101-87), Glendale Community College (131-16), Mesa Community College (112-52), Paradise Valley Community College (112-44) and Phoenix College (132-13).
- The Aztecs also took home six individual championships.
- Sophomore Kymia Bridgett, the NJCAA Indoor National Champion in the Triple Jump, claimed the ACCAC Conference title with a jump of 12.12 meters (39-feet, 9.25-inches).
- Sophomore Sofia Cambridge (Page HS) took home the 1,500-meter crown as she crossed the finish line in first place with a time of 4:59.36. She also took third place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:19.69.
- Sophomore Tyra Christean took the 400-meter hurdles title with a time of 1:04.89.
- Sophomore Hannah Droeg (Casteel HS) won the 100-meter hurdles race with a personal-record time of 15.09 seconds. She also tied for second place in the High Jump with a mark of 1.48 meters (4-10.25).
- Freshman Cayla Jones (Cienega HS) earned the top spot in the Long Jump as she finished with a mark of 5.50 meters (18-0.50). It was her second straight PR in the event. She also claimed second place in the Triple Jump with a closing jump of 11.65 meters (38-2.75).
- Freshman Elizabeth Ugwu (Sahuaro HS) improved on her NJCAA national qualifying mark in the Shot Put as she took first place with a throw of 13.37 meters (43-10.50). Ugwu also took third place in the Discus with a throw of 36.13 meters (118-6).
- Sophomore Morgan Mosley set a personal-best and earned a national qualifier in the Hammer Throw with a mark of 44.59 meters (146-3). She took third place in the event. Freshman Tyra Starkey (Casteel HS) improved on her national qualifier as she placed third in the Pole Vault with a mark of 3.31 meters (10-10.25).

The Aztecs will compete at the GCC Outdoor Invitational at Glendale Community College next Saturday, April 11.
