April Necaise earns All-American status in High Jump after second day at NJCAA National Championships
The Pima Community College women's track & field completed the second day of competition at the NJCAA Division I National Championships on Friday at Brown Stadium in West Monroe, LA.
- The Aztecs sit in 15th place with a total of 8.33 points.
- Freshman April Necaise finished in a three-way tie for eighth place in the High Jump. She cleared 1.63 meters (5-feet, 4.25-inches) on her second attempt and earned 0.33 points. She fell short of her season-best jump of 1.68 meters (5-6), which she cleared at the Region I Championships when she tied for first place with teammate Ja'Niya Ross.
Other Pima finishes on the second day of competition:
- Maylee Thompson (Willcox HS) – 9th place in the Heptathlon 3800 points.
- Izzy Green (McClintock HS) – T-11th place in High Jump 1.58 meters (5-2.25).
- Ja'Niya Ross (Desert Vista HS) – T-11th place in High Jump 1.58 meters (5-2.25).
- Tyler Washington – 13th place in Heptathlon 3357 points.
The Aztecs close out the 2024 season on Saturday in the final day of the NJCAA Division I National Championships in West Monroe, LA.
