Jiselle Nunez and Belen Camacho's efforts secure ACCAC Player/Pitcher of the Week recognition

Pima Community College softball players Jiselle Nunez (Tucson Magnet HS) and Belen Camacho (Pueblo HS) proved to be key contributors during the week of Apr. 19-25.

  • Nunez, a sophomore infielder and Camacho, a sophomore right-handed pitcher, were selected the ACCAC Division II Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively.
  • Nunez earned her first nod of the season as she went 9-for-13 (.692 average) with five home runs, 18 RBIs, five runs scored and one walk in four games played. Nunez went 3-for-3 with three homers, eight RBIs and three runs in Pima's 8-3 second-game win over Scottsdale Community College.
    Nunez is hitting .398 with 12 homers and 50 RBIs and 28 runs in 37 games played this season.
  • Camacho earned her third selection as ACCAC Division II Pitcher of the Week. Her previous selections were for the weeks of Mar. 8-14 and Feb. 15-21. She went 2-0 in three appearances pitching 12.1 innings, giving up one run (one earned) on four hits with 20 strikeouts and two walks.
    Camacho is 14-2 with a 2.18 ERA with six complete-games and 28 total appearances. She has pitched 109.0 innings, giving up 34 earned runs with 147 strikeouts and 45 walks.

The Aztecs close out the regular season on Saturday at Phoenix College in an ACCAC conference doubleheader. The first game starts at 12:00 p.m.
