Leonel Gutierrez has hat trick, Alejandro Mina dishes out three assists as Men's Soccer beats Yavapai College
The Pima Community College men's soccer team (2-0) picked up its second straight road win against an NJCAA/ACCAC Division I opponent on Saturday.
- The No. 4 ranked Aztecs surrendered the first goal, but rallied to beat Yavapai College 6-2 in Prescott.
- Freshman Leonel Gutierrez (Salpointe Catholic HS) produced a hat trick as he tied the game with a goal in the 30th minute and then gave the Aztecs a 3-1 lead with his second goal in the 40th minute. He completed the hat trick by scoring one minute later to make it 4-1.
- Sophomore Alejandro Mina assisted in Pima's first three goals. Two went to Gutierrez's goals. Mina provided the assist in sophomore Robert Castaneda's (Nogales HS) go-ahead goal in the 34th minute.
- Castaneda netted his second goal of the game in the 55th minute to give the Aztecs a 5-1 lead. Freshman Alek Peral (Nogales HS) had the assist.
- The Aztecs added one more insurance goal in the 64th minute when sophomore Joost Hermeling found the back of the net with an assist from Diegoctavio Garcia Yanez (Salpointe Catholic HS).
- The Aztecs finished with 14 shots on goal shots on goal. Freshman Tommaso Leonardi and sophomore Alex Cristerna Oleta each finished with three saves.
The Aztecs will play a scrimmage on Tuesday against UofA Club at the West Campus Aztec Field. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m. They get back to regular season play next Saturday when they open ACCAC conference play at Phoenix College. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m.
