Aztecs Women's Cross Country takes second place at ACCAC/Region I, Division I Championships

The Pima Community College women's cross country team competed at the ACCAC/Region I, Division I Championships on Friday held at Crossroads Park in Gilbert, AZ.

The No. 23 ranked Aztecs took home the runner-up plaque as they finished with a total of 54 points. Central Arizona College was first with 19 points while the College of Southern Nevada placed third with 54 points, losing out to Pima in a tiebreaker.
Freshman Madeline Mitchell (Tucson Magnet HS) was the top Pima finisher in the 5K race as she took fifth place with a time of 20 minutes, 50.2 seconds.
Sophomore Sofia Cambridge (Page HS) crossed the finish line in eighth place with a time of 21:08.4 while freshman Cassidy Davidson (Cienega HS) closed out the race in 12^th place at 21:48.7.
Sophomore Karlee Pope took 14^th place at 22:24.7 and fellow sophomore Elizabeth Coppola (Pusch Ridge Christian HS) was 15^th with a closing time of 22:26.7.
Mitchell, Cambridge, Davidson, Pope and Coppola all earned All-Region I, Division I honors for finishing in the top 15.

The Aztecs will compete at the NJCAA Division I National Championships on Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge, IA.
