Aztecs Women's Cross Country takes eith place at Highlander Invitational
The Pima Community College women's cross country team competed at the Highlander Invitational on Saturday hosted by the University of California, Riverside.
- The No. 23 ranked Aztecs finished the open race in eighth place with a score of 190. Arizona Christian University took first place with 58 points and Central Arizona College placed second with 78.
- Four of the five Pima runners who scored team points, secured new collegiate personal records in the 6K (3.73 mile) race.
- Sophomore Sofia Cambridge (Page HS) was the top finisher for the Aztecs as she took 30th place out of 118 competitors with a time of 24 minutes, 19.8 seconds, a new personal record. Freshman Madeline Mitchell (Tucson Magnet HS) finished behind Cambridge as she took 31st place after crossing the finish line with a PR of 24:24.1.
- Freshman Cassidy Davidson (Cienega HS) placed 37th with a finishing time of 24:31.1 while sophomore Elexia Aragon (Flowing Wells HS) closed out the race with a new PR time of 25:41.41.
- Sophomore Elizabeth Coppola (Pusch Ridge Christian HS) also set a new PR as she posted a time of 26:07.0.
The Aztecs will compete at the Region I, Division I Championships on Saturday. Location and start times are TBA.
