Aztecs Women's Cross Country competes in 6K race at Dave Murray Invitational
The Pima Community College women's cross country team competed in its second meet of the season on Saturday at the Dave Murray Invitational hosted by the University of Arizona.
- The No. 21 ranked Aztecs finished in sixth place with a team score of 183 points. Mesa Community College took fourth in the final standings with 94 points. The other competing teams were NCAA Division I programs. New Mexico State University was first with 29 points.
- Freshman Madeline Mitchell (Tucson Magnet HS) was the top finisher for the Aztecs as she took 42nd place out of 54 competitors. She closed out the 6K (3.73 mile) race with a time of 25 minutes, 53.9 seconds.
- Sophomore Karlee Pope finished behind Mitchell taking 43rd place at 26:08.6. Sophomore Sofia Cambridge (Page HS) was the third straight Aztec runner to cross the finish line as she took the 44th spot with a time of 26:31.6.
- Sophomore Elexia Aragon (Flowing Wells HS) placed 47th at 27:48.4 and sophomore Coppola (Pusch Ridge Christian HS) took 50th place with a time of 28:24.9.
The Aztecs will compete at the Al Shirley Invitational next Saturday, Oct. 4 held at Central Arizona College in Coolidge, AZ. The first race begins at 7:00 a.m.
