Aztecs Volleyball falls in four sets at Glendale CC to close regular season play

The Pima Community College volleyball team (10-13, 6-6 in ACCAC) closed out the regular season on Friday as it played at Glendale Community college (16-4, 10-2).

  • The Aztecs stole the first set against the No. 12 Gauchos but dropped the next three games as they fell in four sets (20-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-19).
  • Sophomore Maggie McReynolds (Mountain View HS) posted a double-double of 10 kills and 11 digs while fellow sophomore Julia Baird finished the match with six kills and four blocks.
  • Freshman Rickki Hernandez (Mountain Ridge HS) added 12 digs and four aces while sophomore Julia Weatherbie (Mountain View HS) contributed with 18 assists and three aces.

The Aztecs have reached the postseason in seven of the last eight years, which include the South Central District Tournament in 2020. They will be the No. 4 seed and will play at No. 1 Mesa Community College in the Region I, Division II Semifinals on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
