Aztecs Women's Soccer wins fourth straight after shutting out Paradise Valley CC
The Pima Community College women's soccer team (4-1-2, 4-0-1 in ACCAC) picked up its fourth straight win and third shutout victory of the season on Saturday as it hosted Paradise Valley Community College at the West Campus Aztec Field.
- The No. 10 ranked Aztecs defeated the Pumas 5-0 as Pima continued their scoring barrage. They've outscored their opponents 27-1 during their winning streak.
- Freshman Ava Dagnino (Salpointe Catholic HS) scored two goals in the game. She put the Aztecs on the board in the 17th minute as sophomore Kristal Navarro (Tucson Magnet HS) provided the assist. Dagnino's second goal came in the 76th minute to make it 4-0.
- Sophomore Ashley Martinez (Sunnyside HS) and freshman Yajaira Cervantes (Tucson Magnet HS) each scored a goal and had an assist in the game. Martinez found the back of the net with under a minute left in the first half to make it 2-0 at the break. She assisted in Cervantes' goal in the 81st minute. Cervantes's assist on Dagnino's second goal.
- Freshman Karina Tapia (Sabino HS) scored her first goal of the season in the 68th minute. Navarro provided her second assist of the game.
- The Aztecs finished with 11 shots on goal and held the Pumas to one shot on goal for the game. Sophomore Brooke Valencia (Sabino HS) had one save.
The Aztecs will face a tough test on Tuesday when they play at No. 7 ranked Scottsdale Community College. Game time is set for 5:45 p.m.
