Men's Cross Country competes at the Highlander Invitational
The Pima Community College men's cross country team took a trip out of state on Saturday to compete in the Highlander Invitational hosted by the University of California, Riverside.
- The Aztecs finished in 17th place with a score of 467 points. The University of Arizona took first place with 65 points. Pima beat out fellow ACCAC conference competitors; the College of Southern Nevada, who finished 18th with 473 and Coconino Community College, who took 20th with 560. Mesa Community College was 14th with 414.
- Freshman Noah Brunet (Ironwood Ridge HS) was the top finisher for the Aztecs in the 8K race (4.97 miles) as he earned a collegiate personal record with a time of 25 minutes, 50.0 seconds. His placement gave Pima 56 points.
- Sophomore Louis Madrigal-Diaz (North Canyon HS) crossed the finish line with a time of 26:55.5 as his placement gave the Aztecs 92 points.
- Freshman Tayvien Biancuzzo closed out the race with a PR of 27:26.5 for his young collegiate career as he earned 104 team points.
- Sophomore Zack Comaduran (Marana HS) also set a PR in the 8K as he posted a time of 27:26.9 and earned 105 points towards the team score. Fellow sophomore Evan Rasoumoff (Catalina Foothills HS) had a time of 27:37.0 and rounded out the team scoring with 110 points.
The Aztecs will compete in the NJCAA Region I, Division I Championships on Friday at Crossroad Park in Gilbert. The women's race will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the men's race will follow at 9:45 a.m.
