Men's Cross Country Runner Emmanuel Corral Named Chapman Automotive Aztecs Student-Athlete of the Week

Pima Community College men's cross country and track & field distance runner Emmanuel Corral (Pusch Ridge Christian HS) was named the Chapman Automotive Aztecs Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday for the week of Sept. 27-Oct. 3.

  • Corral was the top finisher for the Aztecs in the men's 8K (4.97-mile) race with a time of 28 minutes, 36.4 seconds.
  • Corral has helped out with Corazon Ministries, a religious organization that assists Hispanic/Latino churches in town, He has helped in construction work and feeding the homeless events.

Coach's Quote: "Emmanuel has stepped up to being a team leader. He has taken the lead in workouts and in race," Pima cross country coach Mark Bennett said. "He made sure to cheer on everyone during workouts. He is constantly checking on and cheering on the freshman and making them feel they are valued on the team. Emmanuel also is excelling in the classroom and is a team leader in that respect."
