Cedric Cade and Danny Knapp each secure two NJCAA qualifiers as Track & Field competes at Don Kirby Elite Invitational
The Pima Community College men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Don Kirby Elite Indoor Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center hosted by the University of New Mexico.
- Sophomore Cedric Cade set two new NJCAA national qualifying marks. He cleared a High Jump of 2.03 meters (6-feet, 8-inches). He also earned a qualifier in the Long Jump with a mark of 7.15 meters (23-5.5).
- Freshman Danny Knapp (Rio Rico HS) also earned two national qualifying times in the 600 meters (1:22.52) and the 800 meters (1:56.52).
- Freshman Noah Brosier set a new national qualifying mark in the Long Jump at 7.27 meters (23-10.25).
- Sophomore Jackson Koontz (Salpointe Catholic HS) earned his national qualifying mark on the day in the 3,000-meter race with a time of 8:45.53.
- Freshman Noah Macias (Mica Mountain HS) improved on his 600 meters time at 1:19.74. He improved from 1:20.19 set at the PVCC Indoor Invitational on Jan. 24. He remains at No. 2 in Pima school history for the event behind Orion Barger (1:18.10).
- In women's competition, freshman Tyra Starkey (Casteel HS) improved on her Pole Vault mark. She finished with a vault of 3.10 meters (10-2) and improved from her previous mark of 3.05 meters (10-0).
The Aztecs will compete in their final regular season indoor meet on Friday at the NAU Tune-Up in Flagstaff, AZ.
