Tucker repeats as Region Champion in Long Jump, Huntsman captures title in Pole Vault as Men's Track & Field widens lead in team standings

The Pima Community College men's track & field team completed the first day of competition at the Region I Championships on Tuesday at Mesa Community College.

• The No. 6 ranked Aztecs have a strong grip on first place with 137 points. Mesa Community College sits in second place with 58 points and Central Arizona College is in third with 44 points.
• Sophomore Nasir Tucker became a two-time Region I Champion in the Long Jump as he finished with a mark of 7.30 meters (23-feet, 11.50-inches) on his second attempt. He earned 10 team points for Pima.
• Sophomore Carter Huntsman came away with the Region I crown in the Pole Vault with a personal-best mark of 4.86 meters (15-11.25) on his first attempt securing 10 points.
• Freshman Ketch Sulpizio (Gila Ridge HS) took second place in the Pole Vault with a mark of 4.71 meters (15-5.50) on his first attempt earning eight points for the Aztecs.
• Freshman Charles Borowsky finished in second place in the Javelin with a personal-best throw of 60.63 meters (198-11); earning eight points.
• The 4x800 relay team of freshman Tayvien Biancuzzo (Mica Mountain HS), freshman Hollace Neasham (Canyon del Oro HS), freshman Aidan Junker and sophomore Louis Madrigal-Diaz (North Canyon HS) earned eight points after their second place finish at 7:56.96.
• Freshman Isaiah Jordan placed third in the Long Jump after finishing with a jump of 7.12 meters (23-4.50). His placement earned six points.

• Nathaniel Curtiss (Rincon/University HS) – Fourth place in Long Jump 6.81 meters (22-4.25) (5 points)
• Matthew Edge (Hamilton HS) – Fourth place in Pole Vault 4.11 meters (13-5.75) (5 points)
• Martin Valencia-Felix (St. Augustine Catholic HS) – Fourth place in Javelin 53.41 meters (175-2) (5 points)
• Benjamin Morgan (Sabino HS) – Fourth place in Hammer Throw 45.88 meters (150-6) (5 points)
• Evan Rasoumoff (Catalina Foothills HS) – Fourth place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase 9:54.02 (5 points)
• Cedric Cade – Sixth place in Long Jump 6.71 meters (22-0.25) (3 points); Seventh place in Javelin 47.46 meters (155-8) (2 points); Seventh place in Pole Vault 3.96 meters (12-11.75) (2 points)
• Domenic La Salvia (Marana HS) – Sixth place in Javelin 47.72 meters (156-6) (3 points)
• Landon Suhre (Salpointe Catholic HS) – Sixth place in Hammer Throw 38.97 meters (127-10) (3 points)
• Russell Bauer-Woodman (Marana HS) – Sixth place in 3,000-meter steeplechase 10:20.38 (3 points)
• Zack Comaduran (Marana HS) – Eighth place in 3,000-meter steeplechase 11:50.49 (1 point)

The Aztecs will compete in the final day of the Region I Championships on Thursday at Mesa Community College.
