Leonel Gutierrez, Eythan Mancilla and Robert Castaneda secure spots on NJCAA All-American teams
Pima Community College men's soccer program produced three NJCAA Division II All-Americans for the second straight year as the teams were released on Tuesday.
- Freshman Leonel Gutierrez (Salpointe Catholic HS) and sophomore Eythan Mancilla (Sunnyside HS) were selected First Team NJCAA Division II All-American while sophomore Robert Castaneda (Nogales HS) was named Second Team NJCAA Division II All-American.
- Gutierrez, a forward, was named ACCAC/Region I, Division II Player of the Year and First Team All-ACCAC/Region I, Division II. He scored an ACCAC Division II-leading 22 goals (sixth in NJCAA Division II) as he played in 20 games; making 19 starts. He also had six assists and 50 points total. Gutierrez also scored six game-winners. The Aztecs scored a total of 79 goals (3.76 GFA) this season.
- Mancilla, a defender, was selected First Team All-ACCAC/Region I, Division II. He played and started in 18 games this season with one goal, seven assists and nine points. He helped anchor a defense that gave up 18 goals (0.88 goals against average) and secured 11 shutout victories this season.
- Castaneda, a midfielder, was named First Team All-ACCAC/Region I, Division II. He played and started in 19 games with nine goals, five assists and 23 points. He played a total of 40 games for his career with 17 goals and 14 assists.
- Castaneda and Mancilla closed out their Pima careers with two appearances in the NJCAA Division II National Semifinal game and an undefeated record of 21-0 playing at the West Campus Aztec Field.
- Gutierrez, Mancilla and Castaneda join an impressive group as the Aztecs men's soccer program has produced 25 NJCAA All-Americans in the last 19 years. Some of the previous NJCAA All-Americans include: D'Andre Pickett (2024, 2023), Brandon Sanchez (2024), Ismael Ruiz (2024), Nicholas Bianchi (2022), Ernesto Osornio (2022), Sam Lossou (2021, 2020-21), Brian Vu (2021), Seungeon Kim (2020-21), Ricky Gordillo (2019), Hugo Kametani (National Player of the Year) (2018), Kaskile Zawadi (2018), AJ Valenzuela (2017), Hector Banegas (2016), Jason Romero (2015), Arturo Vega (2014), Alexis Medina (2013), Eric Glad (2011), Minh Vu (2010, 2009) and Fernando Gauna (2007).
The Aztecs close out the 2025 season at 18-4 overall and 12-2 in ACCAC conference play. It was the second straight year the Aztecs went undefeated at the West Campus Aztec Field as they went 9-0 this season.
