Mina, Mancilla and Castaneda score second half goals as Men's Soccer blanks Paradise Valley CC for fifth straight win
The Pima Community College men's soccer team (7-1, 4-1 in ACCAC) earned its fifth straight victory on Saturday as it hosted Paradise Valley Community College (2-4-2, 1-3-1) at the West Campus Aztec Field.
- The No. 7 ranked Aztecs defeated the Pumas 3-0 as Pima has outscored their opponents 24-1 in the last five games. It was also their fourth straight shutout win.
- The Aztecs had four shots on goal in the first half but nothing to show for it as the game remained scoreless after the first half of play.
- Sophomore Alejandro Mina scored his third goal of the season as he put the Aztecs on the scoreboard in the 51st minute. Freshman Diegoctavio Garcia Yanez (Salpointe Catholic HS) had the assist.
- Sophomore Eythan Mancilla (Sunnyside HS) made it 2-0 as he scored in the 67th minute.
- Sophomore Robert Castaneda (Nogales HS) added one more insurance goal in the 81st minute with an assist from freshman Sean Ribadeneira (Pinnacle HS).
- The Aztecs finished with 12 shots on goal and held the Pumas to two for the game. Freshman Tommaso Leonardi closed it out with two saves.
The Aztecs will hit the road on Tuesday when they play at Scottsdale Community College. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m.
