Ganter and Glueck combine for six RBIs as Baseball overwhelms Scottsdale CC

Freshman Jackson Glueck finished 2 for 3 with three RBIs and a run while sophomore Maclain Roberts picked up the win after throwing six innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks as the No. 9 ranked Aztecs Baseball team beat Scottsdale Community College 13-5 in seven innings. The Pima Community College baseball team (41-11, 25-11 in ACCAC) rallied in the 2nd inning to take the lead for good on Friday in its game against Scottsdale Community College (26-24, 16-20).

  • The No. 9 ranked Aztecs scored six runs in the 2nd inning as they cruised to a 13-5 win in seven innings.
  • The Artichokes scored two runs in the top of the 1st inning, but the Aztecs responded in the 2nd inning. Freshman Ernie Alvarez (Canyon del Oro HS) hit an RBI double to score freshman Mike Jones (Canyon del Oro HS). Freshman Leon Cereceres tied the game at 2-2 when he hit a sacrifice-fly RBI to bring in Alvarez. The Aztecs had bases loaded with two outs and freshman Jackson Glueck cleared the bases with a double to right field bringing around freshman Ramon Martinez, and sophomores Caden Richards and Nolan Ganter (Pinnacle HS). Sophomore Collin Senior (Horizon HS) followed with an RBI single to score Glueck as the Aztecs went up 6-2.
    The Aztecs drew a walk and had a single to start off the 4th inning. Ganter came through with a three-run homer to left field, driving in Cereceres and Richards to make it 9-2.
    The Aztecs tacked on another two runs in the 5th inning. Alvarez sent the first pitch he saw over the fence in center field for the solo home run. Martinez drew a walk and later scored on a fielder's choice to put the score at 11-2.
  • Richards hit an RBI double and scored on a passed ball to end the game in the 7th inning.
  • Glueck finished the game 2 for 3 with three RBIs and a run scored while Ganter went 1 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Alvarez closed out the game going 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs, and Richards was 3 for 5 with two RBIs and three runs. Cereceres went 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs. Senior finished the game 2 for 4 with an RBI.
  • Sophomore Maclain Roberts picked up the win as he pitched six innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks on 100 pitches.
