Pima runner Bruno named ACCAC Runner of the Year

Pima Community College women's cross country runner Katherine Bruno (Canyon del Oro HS) received a huge honor from the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference.

Bruno, a freshman, was named ACCAC Conference Runner of the Year.

She took first place at the ACCAC Championships with a 5K race finishing time of 18 minutes, 37.9 seconds. Her best time in a 5K race came at the NJCAA Region I Championships where she took second place at 18:35.7.

Bruno was selected NJCAA National Athlete of the Week on Oct. 9. She fell short of NJCAA All-American status as she placed 18th out of 311 competitors at the NJCAA National Championships. The top 15 finishers earned All-American status.

Bruno will compete in Pima's track & field season. The first meet is the Aztec Indoor Invitational at the West Campus track on Jan. 20. The meet begins at 11:00 a.m.
