The Pima Community College women's soccer team (8-4-1) scored the first goal of the game but in the end couldn't hang on against Phoenix College on Saturday at the Kino North Grandstand.

The Aztecs came close to handing the No. 6 ranked Bears (12-0-1) their first loss but they surrendered three goals late in the second half in their 3-1 loss.

The Aztecs struck first as sophomore Destiny Kelly (Sahuaro HS) scored in the 32nd minute with an assist from freshman Aspen Kinzie (Mountain View HS).

The Bears charged back and took control with goals in the 71st, 72nd and 75th minutes.

The Bears outshot the Aztecs 8-7 for the game. Sophomore goalkeeper Tara Kase (Buena HS) finished the game with five saves.

The Aztecs were swept in the regular season meetings with the Bears. Pima fell 4-3 last month in Phoenix.

The Aztecs will be on the road on Tuesday when they play at Cochise College in Douglas at 2:00 p.m. The Aztecs won a 2-1 thriller in double overtime on Sept. 1 at Kino North Stadium.
