Nakai named ACCAC Player of the Week for the third straight week; eighth overall

Pima Community College women's basketball player Jacqulynn Nakai (Coconino HS) is taking over the ACCAC conference as she claimed the ACCAC Division II Player of the Week honor for the week of Jan. 21-27.

  • Nakai, a sophomore guard, earned the honor for the third straight week; eighth time in her Pima career. She passed Sydni Stallworth (Palo Verde HS), who took home the honor seven times in her Pima career.
  • Nakai did not play last Wednesday at Cochise College but she took over the game at Eastern Arizona College on Saturday. Nakai scored 35 points with seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in Pima's 83-76 win.
  • She became the third player in Pima women's basketball history to score 1,000 points.

The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Wednesday when they host Arizona Western College at 5:30 p.m. There will be a presentation honoring Nakai and men's basketball sophomore Abram Carrasco (Cholla HS), who also surpassed 1,000 points.
