Basketball standouts Acedo and Dubots sign to Colorado Mesa University

Pima Community College men's basketball players Emilio Acedo (Salpointe Catholic HS) and Damon Dubots will continue their collegiate careers at the NCAA Division II level.

Acedo and Dubots signed to play at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, CO. They helped the Aztecs win the Region I, Division II championship and finish in the Elite 8 at the NJCAA Division II Tournament.

Acedo, a guard, was second on the team in scoring with 17.6 points per game as he shot 41.9 percent from three-point range. He also averaged 4.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.7 steals. Acedo also shot 84.1 percent from the free throw line. He played and started in 34 of the 35 games. He was named second team All-ACCAC and first team All-Region I, Division II.

Dubots, a forward/center, played two years for the Aztecs. In his sophomore season, he played and started in 34 of the 35 games averaging 11.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.0 block per game. He shot 58.9 percent from the field.
