Akira Kondo, MS, ATC, LAT is in his second year as an Athletic Trainer for Pima Community College. This is his second stint with the college as he was a part-time staff member from 2003-2005. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine and his Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology/Adult Fitness degrees from the University of Akron.
Kondo was hired as an assistant athletic trainer at Hood College (MD) in 2005 and was the head athletic trainer from 2008-2014. He also worked as a graduate assistant at the University of Akron.
Kondo, a native of Tokyo, Japan, is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), the Arizona Athletic Trainers Association (AZATA), the Rocky Mountain Athletic Trainers Association (RMATA) and Japanese Athletic Trainers Organization (JATO). Kondo is also certified as an American Red Cross FA/CPR/AED and CPR/AED professional rescuer and instructor.
